PEDAGOGY AT L’ECOLE DES VAGUES
CHECK OUT THE BEACH ENVIRONMENT
Observe the Ocean, sand banks, currents, analyse the incoming swell.
Set yourself in the water, spot land and sea marks.
Learn about Ocean and local weather,
generation of swells, and how they break on sand and rocks.
Observe the environment to care more about it.
Surf class starts with a quick “Body surf session” so you can feel the strength and size of waves, and spot currents.
KNOW YOUR EQUIPMENT
Your gear : boards, fins, leash, wetsuit.
Connoisseur instructors will give you extended infos on all usable types of surfboards, and what would best suited if you want to acquire your own surfboard.
LEARNING “INSIDE” (White water)
You start classes between the shore and the breakers so you can stand on the sand bottom and launch yoursel in the waves.
All we want is that you spring up to your feet with the right technique. Then you ride, no problem:)
KNOW HOW :
Set youself on the “spot”.
Launch youself into a “broken”wave.
Spring up to your feet on the board.
Keep on your feet while you ride. (Just don’t fall off !)
LEARNING “OUTSIDE” (Blue water)
Outside, its another world.
When sea conditions allow (fair waves, safety ok).
you paddle outside out to sea, and take off an “unbroken” wave.
KNOW HOW :
Paddle through the break.
Use the currents.
Courtesy rule at the “peak”.
Pick up the right wave.
Paddle for take off.
Ride the wave to the shore.Teaming up at two Instructotrs allows to organise level groups and rapidly paddle outside with those who feel ready for it. This way you progress rapidly.
You can then get into a technical progression vaidated by the French Surfing Association Label.
YOU BEING “INSIDE” OR “OUTSIDE”, THERE WILL ALWAYS BE AN INSTRUCTOR BY YOUR SIDE IN THE WATER.
HE HELPS YOU TO TAKE OFF IF NEEDED, COUNSEL YOU AND GUIDE YOU.
At the end of the class, we’ll deliver a “PASSEPORT SURF” testifying your level. Keep it and use it in any Surfschool of the “Surf Label” network.
